If you have witnessed or experienced any of the below as a healthcare worker because of underfunding within NSW’s mental healthcare system, we encourage you to share your story with us:
1) A patient emotionally or physically deteriorate, or become at increased risk of harm
2) Unfair working conditions (e.g inadequate pay, excessive caseload)
3) A notable decline in your own emotional or physical wellbeing
4) Have left or considered leaving NSW Health to work for the private sector, or within another state due to any of the above concerns
5) …Or anything else which could be considered Preventable Harm (Click to read: “What Is Preventable Harm” for more information)
We encourage you to share your story with us. By sharing their story, you can help expose the dangers of underfunding mental healthcare, and advocate for reform.
NOTE:
To ensure the safety of healthcare workers, any identifying details provided in the following form will be automatically withheld from the public unless consent is specifically obtained to share it. Your information will also not be exchanged with NSW Health or other governing organizations.
All submissions will be published only after manual approval by site moderators for safeguarding reasons. Once published, you will retain full ownership of the submission and can request edits or removal at any time
Stories containing the following will not be approved:
a. The name, photo, or other pieces of personal information which could risk revealing a minor’s identity.
b. The name, photo, or other pieces of personal information which could risk revealing a patient’s identity (unless consent is otherwise obtained). Healthcare workers must not disclose any information which could risk revealing their patients identity.
c. The depiction of other individuals, including other healthcare workers, in an overly negative light. Any stories involving negative encounters with other individuals must be written in a way that clearly ties back to the systemic problems inside NSW’s mental health system. The emphasis of your submission must on the system as a whole, not others within it.
